A little scary sometimes
Dear Creation, what have I gotten myself into? So last night, I am trying to sleep and my brain decides that it has not one, but two new story ideas it wants to present me with. Sigh. This always happens when I want to commit to one idea. But then more options come up. I try to take notes on them and see if I can't find some way to placate the beasts in my head long enough to bang out a rough draft (which as long as the black hole of self-loathing doesn't come to suck out all my confidence immediately, I can usually do in 30 days or less if I push, like Nanowrimo push).

On a fun note, if you don't know what Nanowrimo is, click on the link below! I will be there again this year.

Font of nothing today...
So, today I have accomplished...absolutely nothing. Except finishing Dresden 6. But I really did next to no writing of my own today. And soon I'm off to work. I'll try this week and see how splediferously I do at this part-time gig while trying to look for another full time job.  Teaching takes a big chunk of time and you don't feel like writing at the end of the day, but it is more fiscally secure than my current joblessness.
Well, gotta go.

Contracts and Outlines
Possible job...but do I want it?  Now I'm conflicted. At least it will get me out of the house for a while and it doesn't seem to take a great deal of mind work. And it will support the writing habit for this week at least. It is only a trial. Sound like I'm trying to convince myself?

Contract is looking good. I will be getting that out soon.

Aislyn is in the lead for outlines. I've got her act 1 mostly done. I feel blah today. I have for a couple of days. Guess I need to suck it up buttercup and get my act together.
Decisions, decisions.

Stuck in the middle
So I'm torn. There is this really great contest to get published with Shomi publications. It was on the Kelley Armstrong website (discussion board). I've got two good ideas to start out my next project on and they are both fighting for top space.

1. Do I take on Aislyn, Jackson and Rodriguez? They are characters you'll hopefully read about in April when the urban shifter anthology comes out from Samhain.

2. Do I give Stevie and company a chance? She's got a lot to play around with and I haven't really entered her world, save for a sojourn with a brief short story.

Both of these girls are playing around in my head. Aislyn is a bit surly and demanding. She wants to get some things straight with a few of her people.  But Stevie is so desperate to get away from the hell she's in. I want 'em both. But I have to concentrate on one for now so that I can get it outlined for Nano, then finish and polish by April.

Then there's the whole job situation. Writing does not pay my bills. It's more like my obsession. I am hopeful that there will be a day when I can pay the rent with it, but it isn't likely. Only 1 out of 1000 writers who submit their work actually gets published. And of those, only 1 out of 10 makes enough to eek out a living. Yeah, there's your Nora Roberts, Laurell K. Hamiltons and of course the J.K. Rowlings of the world. They are the rarity. The exception that proves the rule.  So I try to find full-time employment that lets me write at night, in the morning or on weekends. Slave to the all-mighty Loonie.  Such is life.  This is a grumpy day.

Dawn of a New Day!
Okay, not really. But it sounded good! I'm now here on the world wide web. I guess that makes it official. I feel so professional and all. I have some exciting news that I can't wait to tell you guys but I can't until it is official. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that it will be soon!
